The term LED stands for Light Emitting Diode, or “diode électroluminescente” in French. These small light sources are used in a variety of products, from bulbs and screens to remote controls and display panels.

• Energy consumption: LED bulbs consume much less electricity to produce the same amount of light as incandescent bulbs. They are up to 80% more energy-efficient.
  Lifespan: LEDs have a significantly longer lifespan. An incandescent bulb lasts about 1,000 hours, while an LED bulb can last from 15,000 to 50,000 hours, or even more.
• Heat generation: Incandescent bulbs produce a large amount of heat in addition to light, which makes them inefficient. LEDs, on the other hand, produce very little heat.
• Light quality and efficiency: LEDs offer a wider variety of color temperatures (from warm light to cool light) and better luminous efficacy. An LED luminaire is a semiconductor device that emits light in response to an electric current.
• Environmental impact: Incandescent bulbs are gradually being phased out due to their low energy efficiency. LEDs are more environmentally friendly thanks to their low energy consumption and long lifespan, which reduces waste generation.

The characteristics of an LED bulb:

1. Energy efficiency: LED bulbs use much less energy than traditional bulbs.

2. Long lifespan: LED bulbs can last up to 50,000 hours, i.e., about 50 times longer than traditional bulbs.

3. Resistance to shocks and vibrations: Unlike traditional bulbs, LEDs do not contain a fragile filament. They are therefore more resistant to shocks and vibrations.

For optimal lighting, you should choose your LED wattage carefully.

The output of an LED is measured in lumens (lm), which indicates the total amount of light produced by the light source. The higher the number of lumens, the brighter the LED will be.
